Microsoft Office XP has the features office tools within easy reach like Context-sensitive smart tags that pop up with options you need . Tasks are reduced from multiple steps with the new task pane. This version of Outlook condenses all your personal and professional e-mail into one central location, even your Web-based e-mail accounts like Hotmail.

Office XP introduces several new features: Smart tags lie underneath recognized objects like misspellings or symbols, offering a variety of options. The task pane looks similar to the Internet Explorer Bar, providing readily configured searches for information or multimedia files.

Some other useful features include a merge function in Word for incorporating other users' changes, a word count display, a drop-down menu in Excel with commonly used functions, and an easy-to-use set of diagram creators.

Speech recognition was applied in all Office applications as well as Internet Explorer and Outlook Express and has two different functions: Dictation and Voice Command.

Dictation provides the ability to dictate words that will be transcribed into typed text in a Office program; Voice Command is used to call menu options and commands via voice.

The clipboard stores up to 24 items and is located in the task pane. The Clipboard task pane also displays a thumbnail view of a copied item, whether it consists of text, numbers, or a graphic.

Microsoft Office XP's online and collaborative tool improvements make it a smart upgrade for businesses and groups, but it's not worth the cost, time, and effort for single or home users.

I like xp because I have it on my other computer which I miss to use as my computer is not working at the moment. I now have a laptop which I am using, and I got this one as a Christmas present, which I am getting used to. I like XP because I like the help centre which I found very useful. Whenever I had a problem, I would go to the help centre and see what the options were. I also learnt quite a bit from it as well, this is my reasoning behind my vote.
